What we keep, and what we don’t.

We ask for little, and we hold less. This covers both the website you are reading and the Retorik service: what we collect, why, who else is involved, and what you can ask of us.

i.
Who we are

Retorik is a service of RAAK, based in The Hague, the Netherlands. RAAK is the controller for the personal data described here. Questions about privacy, or any request below, reach us at info@retorik.pro.

ii.
When you read the site

To understand how the site is used, your browser stores a randomly generated identifier and a short record of your visits in its local storage, and we note ordinary technical detail: the pages you view, time spent, the page that referred you, your language and time zone, and the kind of device and browser you use.

To place a visit roughly on the map, your IP address is sent to ipapi.co, which returns an approximate city and country. Our typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads. We do not advertise to you, build a profile of you, or sell anything about you. Our basis is our legitimate interest in a site that works and improves.

iii.
When you use Retorik

Retorik is also the service an institution uses to draft, approve and publish an executive’s communication. If your institution uses it:

  • Connected accounts. When an executive connects LinkedIn, X or Bluesky, we store the access credentials encrypted and use them only to publish what the executive has approved and to show whether the connection is live. Disconnecting revokes our access.
  • What you upload and create. To learn an executive’s voice, the institution provides material they have written or said — posts, articles, speeches, memos. Retorik turns this into drafts, which the executive and their team review, edit, approve and publish. That material, the drafts, their versions and the review notes are stored to run the service, kept apart for each executive.
  • How we use it. Only to provide the service to your institution. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train models for anyone.

The institution decides what is published and remains the controller of that content; Retorik processes it on the institution’s instructions. We set the terms of this in a written agreement with each institution.

iv.
Where it goes

The website and the service are hosted in the European Union. Two services on the website sit outside it — ipapi.co for location and Google Fonts for typefaces — and each receives your IP address; you can prevent this with your browser’s privacy controls or an extension that blocks third-party requests.

When an executive publishes through Retorik, the post is handed to the platform they chose — LinkedIn, X or Bluesky — which then handles it under its own terms, and may process it outside the EU.

v.
Your rights

You may, at any time, ask us to:

  • show you the data we hold about you;
  • correct it, or delete it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • hand you a copy to take elsewhere.

Write to info@retorik.pro. If you use Retorik through your institution, we will pass your request to them, since they hold the content. If we cannot settle a concern, you may complain to your data-protection authority — in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

When our practices change, we will revise this notice and update the date above.
